New to the Premier League this season are
pre-match manager interviews in the tunnel... here is Liverpool manager
Brendan Rodgers to kick us off at Anfield, talking about his team
selection, and (still) not talking about Luis Suarez:
Rodgers says: "I am happy with the team. Kolo Toure has been outstanding. He is a great professional. His experience and winning mentality will help us this season.
"I think I said in the news conference earlier this week, Luis Suarez is banned from playing until September and out of respect to the other players I am not going to mention him anymore.
"He is back in the group, smiling and happy and that's all I am going to say."
A quirk of the fixture computer means all three newly-promoted teams start their seasons against teams from London (insert your own 'Capital Punishment' gag here) this weekend.
Crystal Palace and Hull don't join the Premier League party until Sunday, when they play Tottenham and Chelsea. That just leaves Cardiff City to start their first ever PL season today (and their first campaign in the top flight since 1961-62) with a trip to Upton Park. I'm West Ham boss Sam Allardyce and Hammers striker Andy Carroll are planning a very special welcome for the Welshmen
