THERE was a mild drama, Tuesday, at
the sitting of the Delta State House of
Assembly, as one of the seven persons
nominated to be appointed into Delta
State Tourism Board, was discovered to
be deceased.
The executive had sent the seven
nominees to the House for
confirmation, namely, Efe Afe, Peter
Okolotu, Hyacinth Iyere, James Youmu,
Amah Agbajoh, Abel Eyube and Joe
Morgan.
However, during the screening, when
the fourth nominee on the list, James
Youmu, was called up, Efe Afe, who
was screened as chairman of the board
and a former member of the House,
drew the attention of the House that
James Youmu had since died even
before the names were sent to the
House.
Also, one Mrs. Gift Gomere, nominated
for appointment into Delta State
Broadcasting Service, DBS, Warri, was
sent back when she appeared for
screening,for being “improperly
dressed,” while another person
nominated for appointment into Delta
State Rural Development Agency, RDA,
Friday Okoh, was also sent back for
unruly behaviour, as he was spotted
chewing gum while standing before the
Mace.
