Federal Government has conmended Bauchi
State government for its achievements in
the education sector.
The vice-president gave the comendation,
on Sunday, in Gadau, Bauchi State, while
inaugurating the Bauchi State University.
He commended Bauchi State for being the
number one state in the utilisation of
Millellium Development Goals (MDG)
intervention funds.
Sambo assured the state that it would
henceforth be included in the provision of
textbooks for public schools from which it
had been excluded alongside Lagos State
by the Universal Basic Education
Commission (UBEC).
While commending the Governor Isa
Yuguda-led administration in Bauchi State
for establishing the university and
achieving the giant strides within two years
of its establishment, the vice-president
assured that the Federal Government would
continue to partner with the state
government in its developmental efforts in
the education sector.
Speaking earlier, Governor Yuguda
informed that the establishment of the
Bauchi State University, Gadau, was
conceived by the immediate past
administration in the state, which his
administration implemented following the
approval of the National Universities
Commission (NUC).
The university, which he said was being
funded through the contribution of two per
cent from state government’s monthly
allocation and five per cent of each local
government area’s allocation, according to
Yuguda had three campuses situated in
Gadau, Misau and Bauchi.
The governor further informed that so far
the government had expended the sum of
N16.5billion for the provision of
infrastructural facilities at the university,
while the Federal Government through the
Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TetFund)
had contributed about N542million to the
university for the provision of two lecture
halls and the moot court for its Faculty of
Law.
