James O’Kane, 22, says he has no idea how he ended up in the Dutch capital after attending a wake in south east London the night before.
The Sainsbury’s worker cannot remember why he booked a taxi to Gatwick airport at 4am but says he was so inebriated he “could not remember his name”.
James, from Orpington, was apparently refused a ticket by EasyJet but eventually boarded a BritishAirways flight after stumping up £232 for a return ticket. He claims the first he knew of his drunken jaunt was when he was woken by an air stewardess as the plane landed at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport.
James said: “The alcohol made everything seem like a completely wicked idea. But when I got to Amsterdam it hit me about what I had done.
“I was completely wasted but when you are drinking you are determined.”
James had only the suit he had worn to the funeral, his passport which he had taken out for ID, and £50 with him when he arrived in Holland.
To make matters worse, his mum Janice, 58, refused to pay for an earlier flight
