Chinese movie recorded officially in Hausa set for airing

Popular Kannywood actress, Fati Musa,
was among those taken to China for the
project.
A Chinese movie recorded officially in
Hausa is set to be shown to Nigerians
through the Nigeria Television Authority.
The movie, titled ‘Beijing Love Story’, was
originally shot in Chinese and aired in
China.
The Chinese Embassy in Nigeria, apparently
determined to promote its culture in
Northern Nigeria, made arrangements to
record the movie in Hausa.
The Embassy sponsored a Kannywood,
Hausa movie, actress, and Hausa radio
presenters, to China for the recording.
Among those sponsored by the Embassy
for the project was popular Kannywood
actress, Fati Musa Macijiya.
Fati told PREMIUM TIMES about her
experience in China during the recording.
When asked how she was chosen for the
project, Fati said one of the embassy
officials visited her and told her they are
willing to take her to China for a film
project.
“They said they have been monitoring my
acting skills in the Kannywood and believe I
will do well in the project. And that is how I
was chosen for the production,” she said.
“I was the only Kannywood actress that was
selected; all the others that were taken are
Hausa radio broadcasters. The experience
is astonishing and a memorable one,” she
added.
She said the project took about two months
to complete and described it as a good
development for her career.
PREMIUM TIMES learnt that the movie was
first recorded in English before the
Nigerians were asked to do the voice
recording in Hausa. The NTA has already
begun advertising the movie, which was
launched by the Chinese Embassy last
week.
Some of the Kannywood movies Fati has
featured in include ‘MACIJIYA’ which means
the snake girl, and “Da Kishiyar gida” which
means I won’t have a second wife. She also
featured in the yet-to-be released science
fiction movie, ADUNIYA.
“There is no other actress to do such a
dubbed role for the Chinese movie than
Fati Musa. She is a very creative and
reliable actress in Kannywood,” a movie
producer and director, Murtala Balala, said.
