‘You got robbed. I wanted you to win. You should have. It’s weird and sucks I robbed you. I was gonna sat that during the speech. Then the music started playing during my speech and I froze. Anyway, you know what it is. Congrats on this year and your music. Appreciate you as an artiste and as a friend. Much love‘ – Macklermore
The above text is a message US rapper Macklemore says he just sent to fellow Hip-Hop artiste Kendrick Lamar after beating him to win the ‘Best Rap Album‘ at the 56th Grammy Awards which held on Sunday, January 26, 2014.
Macklemore who won the award for his debut album ‘The Heist‘ beat K.Dot’s ‘Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City‘, posted the message on his Instagram page explaining that he didn’t deserve to win but Kendrick did.
Fans on social media didn’t fail to hide their feelings when the award was given to Macklemore instead of Kendrick Lamar hours ago. Others say the Kendrick Lamar Grammy-snub was well plotted by the organizers.
‘My text to Kendrick after the show. He deserved best rap album… I’m honored and completely blown away to win anything much less 4 Grammys. But in that category, he should have won IMO. And that’s taking nothing away from The Heist.Just giving GKMC it’s proper respect‘, Macklemore wrote as he posted the screenshot of his phone chat with K.Dot.
‘With that being said, thank you to the fans. You’re the reason we were on that stage tonight. And to play Same Love on that platform was a career highlight. The greatest honor of all. That’s what this is about. Progress and art. Thank you. #grammys‘, he added.
