25 Pro-Amaechi Lawmakers Formally Defect To APC

The 25 pro-
Rotimi Amaechi members of the Rivers
State House of Assembly on Wednesday,
formally defected to the All Progressives
Congress (APC).
This is as the kidnapped member of the
House, Hon. Golden Ngozi Chioma, was
freed about one week after he was
kidnapped.
Speaking during a session, House Leader,
Hon. Chidi Lloyd, said they had ceased
to be members of the Peoples Democratic
Party (PDP), adding that further
correspondence to them should bear the
APC.
Lloyd said: “The 25 pro-Amaechi
lawmakers have asked me to declare our
formal defection to All Progressives
Congress (APC). Henceforth, 25 of us
should be referred to as All Progressives
Congress members. We are telling the
world today that we are all members of
APC”.
Responding to the defection of the
lawmakers, the Speaker, Hon. Otelemaba
Dan-Amachree, requested them to
document their decision.
Meanwhile, Golden Chioma, who is one of
the pro-Amaechi lawmakers, was
released yesterday morning less than 24
hours after the seventh Legislative
Assembly, in a motion of urgent
attention, appealed to the suspected
kidnappers to free him unhurt.
The lawmaker, who represents Etche
Constituency II and Chairman, House
Committee on Judiciary, was kidnapped
by unknown gunmen on Tuesday, July 8,
2014, in Diobu axis of Port Harcourt, the
